MEET THE DESIGNER

Samantha McClintic

Beginning in my early adolescent years, I began to develop a sense of connection and emotion with what the idea of “home” meant- comforted, cared for, and creatively inspired. Over 30 years ago, my parents stretched their dollars to purchase a run-down ranch-style house with great bones and loads of potential. My mother, being a creative visionary and my father an Electrician- worked tirelessly together to completely remodel this drab-to-fab ranch that would ultimately become our family’s sanctuary over the next 28 years- and my personal inspiration. I remember this process as a child, and deeply internalized how my parents’ visions, efforts, and style translated into this feeling of “home”. Dissecting this further, I find these emotions are curated from our interiors by our use of colors, textures, and natural materials; all of which influence our perception of space. Expanding on this idea, myself and my husband (who is a licensed Contractor) recently completed a remodel on our first home; putting in our blood, sweat, and tears to transform our dated 90’s ranch into an inspired retreat that is reflective of both of us. Carrying this forward into my design approach, my "why" is fueled by providing this same experience to my clients and embracing the challenge of embodying their internal emotions as an exterior expression of their homes.

Beginning my career, I apprenticed under a largely reputable designer in Bend and was deeply immersed with hands-on experience in every aspect of Interior Design. Building on my roots with my developing experience and style, I worked to further refine my understanding of various aesthetics and design elements. With some unexpected life curves (such is life, right?), the opportunity was presented to work for a Custom Home Builder in Bend working directly in the construction side of the industry- and I accepted knowing this experience would greatly enhance my design perspective. I derived not only a deeper understanding of building practices and principles but also realized what it means to implement practical design. In enveloping these principles with design; marrying form with function is a critical part of my design process. To each project, I strive to bring innovative, pragmatic, and curated design that is soulfully inspired.
